Swedeing Task
Swedeing Task
This task tested our filming skills. Our task was to mimic a part of a song that we wanted to do. This task taught us that it was harder than we thought because some of the shots were really complicated to mimic.

Table Top Music Video - Generic Conventions
In this task we were given a selection of two genres to choose from, one which was boy bands and another which was RNB. We chose boy bands because we were more comfortable doing this. We were then given a variety of props such as glue sticks, board rubbers, paintings etc. and with these we had to improvise by drawing faces on them for example to make them fit the music video genre. We then filmed a variety of shots of them in various positions and angles until we were satisfied with the clips and then we converted them to final cut pro and arranged them in the sequence we thought fit best. The purpose of this task was to see how well we were able to make do with the things that were available to us and how well we could work under timed conditions and make a music video as best as we could.

Lyrics and Visuals Practice Task
In this task we were given lyrics to a song that most of us were not familiar with. The task was then to film footage to match to the lyrics so that the end result would be our own music video. We were put in a group and told to go out and film as much footage as we could, which turned out to be actually very fun as we were able to be as creative and imaginative as we wanted whist filming what we thought would match the lyrics. After filming all the different clips we were all told to experiment on final cut pro and order the clips in any sequence and way we wanted. This was very interesting as even though we all had the same footage, all of our music videos were considerably different which showed we had different ways of how we thought the music video should look. The point of this task was to see what footage we would be able to come up with in a given time and also to see how our skills at editing were like. I found this task particularly useful as I picked up some new editing techniques which I did not previously know which will come in handy during the actual coursework task.
